The family Jenny Trover, 26, who died Monday on I-70 in a car wreck is asking others to check car seats.

Trover's five month old baby Alex was in the car during the crash.

Doctors at Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction told Trover's family, Alex survived that crash because he was properly secured in his car seat.

Her family is now making a public plea for parents and guardians to take a closer look at car seat safety.

The Mesa County Health Department holds monthly child car seat safety workshops to help parents comply with state laws and be sure children are properly fitted in their seats.

The pic of the baby in his car seat on this web page is a little frightening. His chest clip is too low (should be at armpit level), and his harness is too loose - there should be no "pinchable" harness at the collarbone. Given the content of the article, I really think this needs to be addressed!
