What started out as a report of domestic assault, leaves two sheriff's deputies injured and one man tased.

Just after 7:00 Sunday evening, Mesa County Sheriff's deputies were called out to the 3200 block of Main Street in Clifton, after receiving reports that Alexander Duran had beat up his 21-year-old brother.

When they tried to get into the house to check on the victim, Duran refused to let them inside.

Deputies then had to force their way into the home. When they did, Duran began attacking them, punching one deputy in the eye and another in the jaw.

Duran was then tased and placed in handcuffs. Authorities say even after he was tased, deputies were forced to hold him to the ground as he continued to struggle with them.

Duran was booked into the Mesa County Jail and faces charges of first degree assault and second degree assault among others.

The victim and two deputies were all taken to the hospital. It is believed the deputies will be released last Sunday night.

Again another american in need of medical assistance falls through the cracks. This incident is one that could have been easily avoided, if only Alexander had the right resources to get his medications. This was not some drug induced person intentionally trying to hurt another. Alexander has mental disabilities, but with his medications he is a very loving, normal, gental man. My support goes to the family

Alexander Duran is my half-brother and I know that he has bi-polar disorder and needs medications for these deficiencies. The only reason this happened is because he wasn't able to get his medications, which keep him stable and sane. Joshua Whiteman
