Kitten Rescued From Sewer

When a Grand Junction resident heard meows for help from a tiny kitten through a storm drain, police, fire and the local community came running.

Just before 9 pm monday night, a resident near Uniweep and Aspen street heard some strange sounds from a storm drain. Instead of the normal gurgling of water, it was a kitten just a few weeks old, meowing to get back to safety

The resident heard the cries and called the local authorities. Grand Junction fire and police crews both responded.

They had to remove a manhole cover in the middle of the street and several other storm drain covers in the area to try to locate the animal. In less than an hour, firemen were able to locate the kitten.

They believe it got stuck after falling through a sewer grate.
