The city of Grand Junction is coming up with a plan to accomadate the record growth in the valley and now they want Grand Valley residents' input.

Tim Moore, Planning Director for Grand Junction Public Works, says the population of Grand Junction is expected to double by the year 2035 and therefore the county needs a long term plan. Moore says, "The comprehensive plan is an opportunity for the community, valley wide really, the folks in mesa county and including palisade and fruita, to vision what the valley would look like in 25–30 years."

Grand Junction wants your input on this comprehensive plan. The plan is still in the evaluation phase and the city has set up two meetings for citizens to take part in. The first meeting will be Wednesday May 28th at Two Rivers Convention Center from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. The second meeting will be Thursday May 29th at Vineyard Church Chapel from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m.
but not everyone is happy with the rapid growth...

Tim Moore says people should not be intimated about bring input to the meetings. He says, "If you were king for the day what would you do with the valley? how would you put the new growth in here, and we're trying to plan for a growth cycle of about 25 years to about 2035."

Moore says there are four phases to the plan,and at every step the public will have input. Moore hopes the plan will be adopted by the first part of next year.
