Grand Junction Memorial Day Celebrations

This weekend, millions of Americans will come together to remember and honor those who have served and those who are currently serving in the U.S. Military.

Here in Grand Junction, ceremonies will be held throughout the weekend.

On Sunday night at 6pm, The Grand Valley Honor Guard will hold a flag retirement and burning ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Ceremony of Western Colorado.

On Monday, ceremonies will be held throughout the morning and afternoon. At 9am, the Fleet Reserve Association will hold a Memorial Day ceremony at the Blue Heron Boat Ramp, off of Redlands Parkway.

At 10am, local government officials and local school children will hold an hour long ceremony to honor veterans, both living and dead. That ceremony will take place at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

At 1pm, The American Legion will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at Crown Point Cemetery.

Also at 1pm, the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at their post on Ute Avenue.

At 3pm, a National Moment of Remembrance will be observed. All Americans are asked to pause for one minute to remember the sacrifices made by American troops.
