Grand Junction Police are investigating two new overnight fires that they're calling suspicious in nature.
Grand Junction Police and Fire Crews responded to a report of a car fire around midnight on the 1000 block of Hill avenue. They were able to extinguish that fire which was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
Then a second fire was reported shortly there after.
Officials say it started in a pile of firewood located under a carport in between a house and a car on the 1300 block of Bunting.
Officials say the homeowner was able to extinguish it with a garden hose before fire crews arrived.
It's not clear at this time how the homeowner discovered the fire.
