The national average price for regular unleaded gas has reached a record $3.94 a gallon. That's up by 15 cents over the past week, according to the Energy Information Administration.
Officials attribute the rise in gas prices to the high costs for crude oil.
The average price for gas already tops four dollars a gallon in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
AAA.com says that the area average price in Grand Junction is right on par with the national average.
