Doody Out of Race For County Commissioner

Former Grand Junction mayor Jim Doody is dropping out of the race for County Commissioner. His spokesperson told 11 news this afternoon that he didn't get enough signatures to petition his way onto the ballot.

The deadline to turn in the 2700 signatures would have been today.

Doody was planning a run for the District One seat against Republican Craig Meis. Meis will now face Democratic candidate Dan Robinson.

No candidate in Mesa County has ever successfully petitioned their way onto the ballot.

Doody could not be reached for comment.
