In the name of caution Albertsons has voluntarily pulled all Roma and red round field grown tomatoes from its shelves.

Albertsons stores in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas have done this because the FDA is warning of possible Salmonella contamination.

The FDA reminds consumers that organic and vine grown tomatoes like cherry tomatoes, grape tomatoes, and tomatoes with the vine attached are considered safe.

Symptoms of Salmonella include fever, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps 12 to 72 hours after being infected.
