Rising Medicare Prescription Costs Dulling Golden Years

For many, rising Medicare prescription costs are dulling the golden years.

According to a new study released by Avalere Health, LLC, Medicare prescription costs are up 16 percent since this time last year.

On top of already increasing costs for gas, groceries and utilities, some patients are now looking for ways to cut back on drug costs.

But local officials say cutting back on prescriptions, but cutting pills in half, or taking them less often than prescribed, is a dangerous alternative.

The next Medicare open enrollment is November 15th.

If you or someone you know needs help choosing the right plan, volunteers at the Mesa County Area Agency on Aging can help you.

You can contact them by calling (970) 243-9839.

An official with the Mesa County Area Agency on Aging says if you want to see Medicare change, contact your Congressman or Representative.
