County leaders say suicide is a big problem in Colorado, especially in Mesa County.
The suicide prevention foundation had their annual town hall meeting yesterday. They've been meeting for ten years since Governor Romer set a task force on the issue. Since then the prevention group says they've been able to start new suicide awareness programs in schools and get more counseling for affected families.
Advocates say there's still room for improvement.
Mesa County's suicide rate is more than twice the national average. The state of Colorado has the seventh highest suicide rate in the nation.
