Gas Thefts Rise with the Prices

Gas prices aren't the only thing on the rise - police and the sheriff's office are investigating a rash of gas thefts.

KECI General Contractors is the latest victim of a gas siphoning crime. Around 200 gallons of diesel was taken from several of their heavy equipment vehicles parked in the 28 hundred block of highway 50.

The gas is valued at more than a thousand dollars.

The Grand Junction police department says since January first of this year there have been ten theft reports involving siphoning gas from vehicles.. Eight of them have happened just since late April. The Mesa County Sheriff's office says on average they are seeing about one report a month.
