Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - This weekend you can celebrate the end of the ski season at Powderhorn Mountain Resort by making a splash. The resort holds its annual pond skim before shutting down the lifts for the season.

On both Saturday and Sunday they will have different events going on such as the ski and board cross, the slush bucket downhill where you can try riding your mountain bike down the slope. The events are capped off with the pond skim where you skim across water on skis or your snowboard. "It’s beach party weekend due to the warmth of the valley. So come up, geared in your costume. Bring your bathing suits. We will definitely be having costume contest, very fun. We have a ton of activities to kick off the end of the season and welcome summer,” says Gabrielle Michna, the sales and marketing manager at Powderhorn Mountain Resort.

The pond skim is a free event starting at 4:30 on Sunday. You can also purchase a season pass for next year at the spring rates, however, you do have to purchase the pass in person.
