The Mesa County Health Department is trapping mosquito’s hoping to lower the number of cases Mesa County has seen of West Nile Virus.

Biologists from the health department are setting 20 traps from Mack to Colbran. Right now they are trapping four to six hundred mosquito’s a week to test for West Nile Virus, and they say that drastically increases number will increase with the temperature.

Those mosquito's are sent to a state lab to be tested. In 2007 Mesa County saw 37 cases of West Nile and two resulting deaths.
