A 22-year-old woman accused of killing her newborn baby boy has been formally charged.

The district attorney's office filed charges of first degree murder and child abuse causing death against Morgan Hite.

Prosecutors say she secretly gave birth to a baby boy in a neighbor's bathtub then put him in a bag and then hid the baby in a closet at her parents' North Grand Junction home. According to court documents her parent's found the infant's body two months later.

The 22-year-old is being held in the Mesa County Jail on a one-million dollar bond. She'll be back in court next month.
