A man is recovering at St. Mary's hospital after accidentally shooting himself in the abdomen.

Just before 9:00am, Care Flight was called out Glade Park after receiving reports that someone had been shot.

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Allan Duval and a friend were riding their ATV's near the Glade Park Fire Department, when his shotgun accidentally fell off the handle bars.

They say it got lodged between the front tire of his four-wheeler and fired a shot that hit him.

Officials say he was conscious and breathing when Care Flight transported him to the hospital. He is listed in fair condition.
