Popular Theater to Close For Good

One of the longest running theaters in Grand Junction is closing their doors after almost a decade.

The Cabaret Dinner Theater, which has been suffering from financial difficulties for the last several months, will be closing after a final perfomance of "Chicago" Friday night. Unpaid back rent has resulted in eviction from the property.

Owner and executive director Kirk McConnell has been raising money to keep the struggling theater open after the State of Colorado had seized the building for back tax violations.

A private investor had stepped up to provide a long term loan to the struggling theater to help, but the landlord is unwilling to sign a new lease.
