A water truck is fully submerged in the Colorado River

A spokesperson for resort trucking says the truck was carrying fresh water. The company says the truck was backing up towards the river when the brakes went out and it slipped into the river.

The driver was able to make it out on his own, uninjured and was not pulled into the water.

The accident happened around 8:45 Sunday night off Garfield county road near the Una gravel pit which is half way between De Beque and Parachute as of 3:00 p.m.

Because the water takn on the truck was empty, the truck continues to float downstream. A boat and tow truck will have tobe used to get it out.

The truck is owned by Resort Trucking.
