New Measure Keeping Sex Offenders away from Children

County Commissioners have approved new rules that keep sex offenders away from children.

Any new facilities that house sex offenders and developmentally disabled people who are said to have "abnormal sexual behavior", can not be within 2000 feet of a school, daycare, or bus stop.

Commissioners say the rules were sparked by concern over a group home that was near two schools. That home has since been moved, but the county wants to make sure it does not happen in the future.

County Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the measure.
