For nearly two hours officials scoured the Colorado River looking for someone in trouble.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Grand Junction Police Department were called out to the river near the Botanical Gardens at around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Police say a man riding his bike along the river heard splashing and called 911.
Officers walked the banks of the river between the pedestrian bridge and the Fifth Street Bridge while deputies floated it.
At around 10:20, and after seeing no sign of anyone in distress, officials called off the search.
