Despite National Concerns, Western Slope Fire Crews Staying Put

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, eleven states are currently battling wildfires, with ninety national wildfires currently burning.

The situation has prompted officials to boost the National Preparedness Level to level five, the highest it can get.

Level five means nationally, any crews that can help out are likely on their way to do so.

Officials with Upper Colorado Interagency Fire Management say Colorado has sent help, in the form of a dozen or so staff members and three engines.

Officials say they’re able to send some help, but not as much as other states, because Colorado is in its peak of wildfire season, and has to stay staffed and ready.
