In long standing tradition and following in the footsteps of John Otto, thirty climbers made their made to the top of Independence Monument to fly a flag high above the Grand Valley.

The climb is a fund raiser for Mesa County Search and Rescue Technical Team. The team has been climbing the rock for years just for fun, they began doing it as a fund raiser six years ago.
