Over one hundred people turned out to Clifton Elementary School Tuesday night to hear about almost every aspect of the community's future.

The Clifton-Fruitvale area is the 2nd highest populated area in Mesa County. Now officials and residents are looking for a major change.

Discussions included everything from the kind of police protection residents would get on their own or with city - to who would shovel their streets. One big concern is taxes.

Grand Junction estimates if Clifton annexes to the city, each household would see a yearly tax increase of over three hundred dollars.

If Clifton-Fruitvale stands forms their own government, residents will be charged two hundred and twenty dollars a year for police service alone. That's before any estimates on other city services.

Tuesday night was just the first of four meetings being held throughout this week and next for residents to give their input on the area's future.
