A routine traffic stop lead to much more for Grand Junction Police. Officers say they had to call in hazmat to investigate several containers with chemicals in them.
Police stopped a car on Thursday afternoon at 7th and Kennedy for a cracked windshield and when they searched the car, they say they found drug paraphanelia and chemicals commonly used to make drugs, namely methamphetamine.
Grand Junction Police say they arrested the driver and the passenger, Zachariah and Brandi Lawrence.
Officers called in a chemical lab team from Denver to assist in their investigation of the chemicals.
No homes were evacuated, but the public is asked to avoid the area until the work is finished.
