Technology Helping to Fight Grand Complex Fire
Technology is helping firefighters stay one step ahead of the flames in the Grand Complex fire.
They are using fire mapping and modeling programs to predict where the fire is headed and how fast and if it will grow. The computer programs blend weather, observations on the ground, fuel sources and old fire models to come up with a projection.
Fire officials say it sure beats doing it the old way - by hand.
Officials say even though models are not always 100-percent accurate, they've been a great guide in the fire-fight so far.
