The Roice Hurst Humane Society says it was another successful weekend after three separate fundraisers brought in thousands of dollars to the financially troubled animal shelter.
Staff members say over the weekend, a bake sale was able raise about $400 and a group of girls collecting donations outside of Petsmart raised more than $2,000.
A benefit concert at the End Zone in Fruita brought in $4,900 worth of donations. That amount does not include the proceeds the bar plans on giving.
Just over a week ago, the Western Slope's only no kill facility announced it was broke and might have to shut its doors for good. But the staff says in that time, thanks to the incredible response from the community, they've received about $150,000 in money donations, food, and supplies.
"I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart," said Jennifer Key, Manager of the Roice Hurst Humane Society. "Everything is unbelievable, it's unbelievable. It's the biggest thing I've ever seen in this town and we're absolutely overwhelmed."
The shelter says it can still use all the support it can get. For more information on how you can help, call the Roice Hurst Humane Society at (970) 434-7337 or click on the link below.
