Fire crews are currently battling a 100 acre fire southwest of Parachute.

BLM officials say just before 7:00pm Monday, fire crews received reports of a wildfire burning in the Wallace Creek / Housetop Mountain area, about 10 miles southwest of Parachute.

They say heavy lightning activity in the area likely sparked the blaze, which they're now calling the Housetop Fire.

At this time, the BLM has 5 engines, a hot shot crew made up of 20 firefighters, and two attack helicopters on scene.

BLM officials say flames are about three-quarters of a mile away from several structures in the area, and are burning on public and private lands.

Crews will continue to monitor the fire through the night and the BLM will send a management team to the area Tuesday.
