According to realtors, Housing sales in the Grand Valley have decreased 17 percent since last year and realtors are offering incentives to remain competitive

“Some people are offering trips, some are offering appliances,” says Ann Hayes, President of Grand Junctions Realtor Association. “Often times, there’s things that builders and owners can do for a buyer, so it never hurts to ask.”

Betsy Smith has come up with a new offer for the buyer of a home on Tilman Drive – a $2,000 gas card.

“Since gas prices are on everyone’s mind, we thought it would be a fun and unique way to promote a perk.,” says Smith. “It brings people in laughing. They want to know what’s going on. It makes them interested, which is what we need.”

But Hayes says that cash incentives are the way to go. Many realtors have been doubling stimulus checks while others are offering to pay the closing costs.
