Medicare is making cuts across the country and the Hospice of Western Colorado says because of those cuts, It may have to cut its budget by three to six percent.
Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado says it depends on reimbursements from Medicare. Through Medicare, Elderly people are eligible for free hospice care and many of the hospice's clients are on Medicare.
If Congress does not pass legislation to stop the cuts, hospices will start to lose money.
But the hospice of the western slope says it will not affect its services, but they'll need more help from the community.
Officials there say they will have to make administrative cuts and add more fundraisers to make up the difference.
