Clifton Fire was called out at 8:00pm Friday night to a double house fire on DuPont Court.

Grand Junction Fire Department was also called in as mutual aid.

Fire officials had to evacuate the neighborhood while they worked to knock down the flames.

Mike Page with Grand Junction Fire says crews were able to have the fire knocked down within about fifteen minutes.

A neighbor tells 11 News, he felt the heat and heard the roar of fire from inside his home, across the street.

He says when he came outside, the flames were shooting up at least ten feet above the second story of the house.

No one was home at the house where the fire started, but a dog was inside and firefighters were able to find him and get him out.

A neighbor tells 11 News that a mother, two children, and pets were inside the second home. He says the children were able to get out safely while the mother rounded up the pets.

At this time, there is still no word on what caused the fire.

Most of the interior damage was only smoke damage, but still estimates for both houses are near $75,000 to $100,000.
