On February 1, 22-year-old Trae Frigetto killed a woman while driving drunk. Monday, he was sentenced.

Frigetto will spend the next 26 years of his life in prison, after a judge said he considers him to be a danger to the community. Frigetto will also have to pay nearly $10,000 in fines and will serve a required 8 years of parole once he is released.

In June, Frigetto pled gulity to charges of vehicular homicide, second degree assaulting as an act of violence, and leaving the scene of a crime that resulted in death. All three charges are felonies.

On February 1, 2008 Frigetto was driving down Ute Avenue at speeds of 60 miles per hour when he rear ended Michelle Lefever's truck. He immediately fled to a nearby business and asked employees to hide him.

Lefever was later pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital.

When he was caught, police say Frigetto blew a BAC above .4, five times the legal limit in Colorado.

Today Lefever's husband said Frigetto has caused him more pain and grief than he could ever convey and not a day goes by he doesn't think of his wife.

Frigetto, who says he's an alcoholic, also addressed the court saying he was deeply sorry and "I hate myself for what I've done."

Friends and family of Lefever describe her as a loving, caring person who loved life. They say she was two months away from retiring when this tragic accident happened.

As she addressed the court, Lefever's niece said no matter what happened to Frigetto, her family would likely never have total closure.
