A call from Willard Scott may be in order as Grand Junction has finally hit the century mark. The National Weather Service says at 2 p.m. the temperature hit 100 degrees at Grand Junction Regional Airport.
The heat wave shows no sign of letting up, as temperatures, as they have done for the previous 47 days, hit 90 degrees or above. The area is on track to break the current record of 51 consecutive days of 90 or above.
The National Weather Service says a persistent high pressure ridge over the Southwest is responsible for the record heat.
