Sand Mandala to be Dumped into Colorado River

It took hours to create but will take only seconds to destroy, but according to the Tibetan monks who created it, it's what's learned in the process that is a valuable life lesson.

Monday night at 6:30 a group of Tibetan monks will host a sweeping up ceremony in which they will sweep the sand of the Mandala into the Colorado River.

The monks say the Mandala is supposed to represent the Buddha of activity and help to purify the people and environment around it. The monks worked on the Mandala for three days.

The public is invited to Monday night's ceremony held at Eagle Rim Park. The monks will also be collecting donations to build a clinic for their refugee camp in India.
