GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Marketing and meeting new people can be a powerful tool for business and the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce combined the two in order to give new members a boost.

For the first time, the Chamber hosted a New Member Showcase Thursday. The mixer was an opportunity for anyone who joined the Chamber this year to meet existing members. Officials say the event was a great way for business leaders to network.

"A lot of these people aren't only new Chamber members, but they're new to the community and that way people can know that there are businesses here in the valley," said Trisha Martinez of the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber is hoping to turn the showcase into a bi-annual event. For more information you can call the Chamber at 263-2912.
