A man suspected of threatening a neighbor with a loaded rifle has been arrested today.

24 year-old Julian Mendoza-Valdez was arrested at his home on N. 15th street this morning after reportedly threatening others with a loaded weapon during an argument. He has been charged with attempted first degree murder, felony menacing and first degree burglary.

Just before 1:30 this morning, officials say Mendoza-Valdez pulled a rifle out of the trunk of his car during a dispute, loaded it, cocked the rifle and put it back into the car. Other people involved in the dispute left and went into a neighbors house. Soon, Mendoza-Valdez reportedly forced his way into the neighbors house, pointing the rifle at the person who opened the door. The barrel of the rifle was knocked upwards and Mendoza-Valdez reportedly fired a shot into the ceiling.

The GJPD SWAT team was called to take Mendoza-Valdez into custody, where he was arrested at his home without incident.

No injuries were reported.
