A local girls soccer team needing to raise money to enter a national tournament, and rather than holding a car wash or back sale, they decided to go big. The Grand Junction sixteen-year-old and younger competitve soccer team travels from city to city competing against some of the top teams in the nation.
Getting to the Nike Harvest Cup Tournament in Southern California, however, is very expensive, especially considering family members will be going with each player.
The players' parents decided that instead of raising money with simple fundraisers they will hold a golf tournament at Adobe Creek Golf Course in Fruita. And on Sunday morning, 144 players hit the links, raising more than enough money to get the girls to California in November.
