An Orchard Mesa baby couldn't wait until the hospital to be delivered.
Ryland Mendenhall entered the world with quite a story. On August 21st two days before his due date, Ryland surprised both his mom Jennie and dad Paco.
Jennie woke Paco up early in the morning to tell him it was time. Her water broke just before stepping out the door, which was about as far as Jennie made it. It only took 20 minutes from her water breaking to the delivery of her fifth child.
Paco helped Jennie deliver Ryland on the front porch of their home, while Paco's mother was on the phone with 9-1-1. By the time paramedics arrived, mom and baby were back inside the house.
According to Jennie the paramedics said, "They don't get calls like this very often. They usually have plenty of time to get to the hospital and not have the baby be born at home."
Paramedics checked on the baby then took both Jennie and Ryland to the hospital. Paco says, "I got to say I'm married to a superwoman, that's all I got to say, cause I couldn't of done that, and I know its got to be a difficult thing to do to stand and deliver your child."
Now both baby and mom are home and doing just fine.
