The judge presiding in the Allen Grabe murder case has unsealed the arrest affidavit. In those documents are disturbing details about the night investigators found Jacob Grabe dead in his home.
The arrest affidavit spells out a night of horror for Allen Grabe's wife. According to the documents, Jaquette Grabe called 911 from a locked closet to report her husband had shot her teenage son in the head while he slept in his bed.
51-year-old Allen Grabe's glasses were clean as he listened to a judge but last Thursday night investigators say they saw what appeared to be blood splatter on his glass and blue shirt when they found him sitting on the steps of his Wedgewood Drive home holding a revolver.
According to court documents the first investigator to show up yelled at Grabe to drop his gun and reported Grabe said three words, “I give up.”
Mesa county deputies cuffed Grabe and took his wife in a different car. During her interview, She told investigators she saw her husband go into the closet where they kept their guns, walk into the bedroom where there son was sleeping. That's when she told deputies she heard several gunshots.
She said Grabe yelled at her saying he had to kill him because she was "ruining him." She told investigators she could hear gurgling sound coming from her 13-year-old's bedroom, then heard more gunshots.
Jaquette Grabe also told investigators at some point she went to Jacob's bedroom and saw him seriously injured and thought he was dead.
Right now attorneys are preparing for the preliminary hearing in two months by gathering information and interviewing witnesses.
Grabe remains behind bars in the Mesa County Jail on a one-million dollar bond.
