UPDATE: Foul Play Ruled Out in Black Canyon Death Investigation, Victim May Be Missing College Student
Montrose County Coroner, Dr. Tom Canfield, tells 11 News he does not suspect foul play in the death of a person at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Authorities recovered the body from the park Friday morning.
Park officials say they discovered the body around 6:30pm Thursday below the rim of Chasm View.
The victim's name is not being released at this time, but Dr. Canfield says he does have a tentative ID based on details he's received from the ongoing investigation.
Park officials confirmed they found a truck in Chasm View area which belongs to 21-year-old Mark Young Jr. The University of Northern Colorado student was reported missing on Tuesday.
Dr. Canfield says he has not yet determined a cause of death. He says he will perform an autopsy sometime Friday night.
