Three gas station corner stores have broken windows after a string of smash and grab robberies.

The first one happened around 1:30a.m. Officers say a person, or possibly a group of people, smashed through the front door at the Valero Corner Store on South Broadway in the Redlands Shopping Center.

A large amount of cigarettes were stolen and possibly other items. When police arrived and suspects were already gone.

Around 30 minutes later, the same type of situation happened at the Loco Convenience Store, just a few blocks down. Police say the suspects there smashed in the front door, entered the store, and stole similar items including a bunch of cigarettes.

A third “smash and grab” robbery happened near 29 ½ Rd. and Patterson around 3:30a.m. Police say it looks to be the same story as the other two; the front door was smashed and cigarettes were stolen.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Grand Junction Police Department at 242-6707.
