P25 Fire Near Cedaredge Destroys Three Homes

The so called P25 Fire near Cedaredge has destroyed three houses and damaged three others, but delta county officials say they are in the mop up phase and are letting evacuees go back to their homes.

"It was scary driving home and seeing all the smoke around the house," Francesca Fender told 11 News on Friday.

Fender lives just one mile from where the P25 Fire started. She grabbed her 30 chihuahuas on Wednesday night when she was told to evacuate and took them to the vet. She headed for safe ground.

When she returned to her home Friday, she was relieved to see it was left untouched.

The fast moving fire fueled by wind consumed 240 acres. More than 100 firefighters battle it for 24 hours.

They're investigating the cause but say they do know that there was no lightning in the area at the time and believe it was human caused.

Firefighters are hoping to get all the embers out before they spark back up.
