Grand Junction High School Play to Help Former Student

This past summer, a Grand Junction High School graduate was seriously injured in a car accident, leaving her partially paralyzed. Now, her former classmates are stepping up to help her along the road to recovery.

Chani Capps was an active member of the Grand Junction High School Drama Club, which is putting the finishing touches on their fall production of "Little Women."

While working on the play, the cast put together a special quilt they will hold a silent auction for during their performances this week. The proceeds will go to Chani's fund to help her pay for medical costs and other expenses.

"I thought a way that we can help her, now that she's graduated, is to support her back and do something to show her that when you're in drama at Grand Junction High School, you're in drama forever," said Justin Whiteford, a GJHS drama teacher. "It's a family."

Little Women opens Thursday, October 16 and will continue through Sunday, October 20. The curtain goes up at 7:00pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday -- then 1:00pm Sunday.

Tickets are $6.
