With a historically long ballot on the books for November many voters are feeling the pressure to read up on every issue and one of those referendums on the ballot wants to make it harder for issues to be placed on the ballot.

Referendum O would increase the number of signatures for a petition to change the state constitution while lowering the number of signatures required for a statutory initiative. Also the way signatures are gathered would change.

Before, petitions to put an issue on the ballot could be gathered from a single area. Now, petitioners must collect signatures from all seven districts in Colorado.

The referendum would also require statues to remain unchanged for five years unless a majority vote of 2/3's, against the law is passed .
