Montrose, Colo. (AP) Investigators in Montrose are trying to determine exactly how a pickup crashed into a motel and ended up in an unoccupied guest room.
Police say a 74-year-old man was behind the wheel of the truck about 2 p.m. Wednesday when he lost control and drove through the wall of the Canyon Trails Inn.
The driver was transported to Montrose memorial hospital with minor injuries. Police spokeswoman Kathi Kinkel says the man was alert after the crash, but told officers he does not remember what happened for five blocks prior to the accident.
Motel owner Vickie Rooker says the man still had his foot on the accelerator when she showed up to help.
At least four rooms suffered structural damage.
The driver's name has not been released.
