From Europe to the jungles of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East. Men and women have given their lives for this country and today ceremonies across the valley honored those veterans.

Hundreds gathered to hear the bagpipes at the Vietnam War Memorial Park in Fruita. Jim Doody founded the memorial in honor of his brother who was killed in action and other Western Slope Veterans. One vet says today is a reminder to remember the sacrifices of all veterans.

“We have a wonderful country and many of our people don't realize what it took to keep our country safe,” says Gen Harry Hagaman, a Vietnam veteran

Hundreds at the ceremony signed this banner which will be sent to troops serving in Iraq.
