Mesa State College is mourning the loss of one of its students who was killed in a car accident Thursday.

Heather Jay, a senior kinesiology major at Mesa State, died after she lost control of her car and rolled it more than three times along Interstate 70 near Parachute.

Colorado State Patrol says Jay was not wearing her seat belt when the crash happened.

A spokesperson for Mesa State College says Jay's death is a "great loss to the Mesa State community."
