A new program is giving free books to children under the age of five.
Saturday, Grand Junction kicked off its own chapter of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a national organization whose goal is to put books into the hands of young children before they start school.
For now, only kids who live within the 81501 area code qualify for the program, but local officials say they hope to expand in the coming year. Registered kids will receive a new book every month until they turn five.
Parents can register their children for Imagination Library by filling out a form at the Mesa County Library downtown or by filling out a form online. Click on the link below for more information.
