A man accused of attempting to kidnap a 9–year–old girl could face more charges.
In court today prosecutors said they plan to file more charges against 40-year-old Michael Byerrum but need more time. Police say on May 31st Byerrum took the girl from outside her Orchard Mesa home, threw her in his trunk and drove off.
Court documents state he told the child he was going to kill her, but police say the young victim was able to escape after biting Byerrum on the nose. She was found safe near the department of energy.
Byerrum will be back in court in December.
