A Natural Gas well in Garfield County is leaking and residents in the area have been warned to be ready to evacuate. The well has been sending methane gas and water into the air for more than a day. The company who owns the well, Anterro Resources tells 11 News there's no time frame as to when the leak will be fixed.

The well, located off County Road 346 near Silt started spewing out water and gas at around noon on Tuesday. The Garfield County Sheriff's Office notified residents in the area to be ready to evacuate. The company tells 11 news there are still deputies near the scene ready to spring into action if anything happens.

Anterro Resources is monitoring gas levels near the well, so far they haven't recorded anything at dangerous levels. They have brought in Well Control Personnel from Houston to try and stop the leak.

Once the problem is fixes, the company will launch a full investigation into how the leak happened.

Anterro Resources operates 150 wells in the Rifle/Silt area.
