Black Friday: Great Success!
There was a lot of pessamism entering the busiest shopping day of the year, but business owners were glad the analysts were wrong. Business owners at the Mesa Mall are gleaming over Black Firday's huge business. Including the store Indian Plaza, where they say their sales were through the roof. "It was hectic, it was completely non-stop," says store clerk Britney Hathorne.
Jewelry was a hot item as well. Gold and diamonds were flying off the shelves at Mesa Jewelry. If there were signs of a struggling economy, the amount of bracelets, watches and engagement rings sold told a different story. Manager Gerry Jensen was amazed by the bustling shoppers, "We've been here 17 years, it gets busier every year and this year was no exception."
While it isn't a predictor of overall holiday season sales, the day after Thanksgiving is a solid gauge of people's willingness to spend during the holidays.
